Where is WR Budokan?

The White River Budokan dojo is in the Tip Top building in White River Junction (WRJ) Vermont. It's close to the towns of Norwich, Hanover and serves the Upper Valley area.

Bunkai

Bunkai , literally meaning "analysis"  or "disassembly" , is a term used in Japanese martial arts referring to the application of fighting techniques extracted from the moves of a "form" (kata).

The Sanchin stance is fundamental to Goju-Ryu practitioners.

It's important to understand the difference between a training Sanchin stance and a fighting Sanchin stance.

A training Sanchin stance is use to train the legs. It's static and powerful.

A fighting Sanchin stance is dynamic. It's used in real life applications.

The video below shows the same simple technique from both stances. Each time, the stance used  defines a different objective for the practice.
